Hungary’s Ministry of Human Resources has completed the overhaul of university programmes, with the goal of harmonising higher education with the demands of the economy and society to improve the competitiveness of education, the labour market and the economy, reports Hungary Today.
The overhaul of the decade-old system and the correctional proposals are aimed at increasing the efficiency of education and financing as a response to demands voiced by the profession, society and the economy, a statement issued by the ministry reads.
Under the changes, the BA programme in international relations will be abolished and psychologists and theoretical economists will again be trained in a unitary, five-year system, as will agricultural engineers.
Contrary to earlier information, both BA and MA programmes in communications and media studies will be available in the future, as will MAs in international relations.
Several other courses will be renamed and engineering programmes will be restructured to better suit employers’ demands.
Degrees in terminology will also be abolished.
